Measurement Information

Boats measured for the Australian Championships (5th February) will not need to be measured again for the World Championships (9th and 10th February).

Measurement Certificate

Ensure you have a valid Measurement Certificate with the

  • current owners name on it

  • the 2023 FI Measurement sticker

 

Hull weight

When you present the boat for measurement please check the following:-

  • the hull is dry

  • there are no extra items in the boat that are not fixed except for hatch covers

  • the lead correctors matches your measurement certificate

  • The weighing of a hull is an event measurement and is not a reweighing of the boat. ie the the correctors are not to be changed from the measurement certificate

Sails

  • You will be able to measure in only two mainsails two jibs and two spinnakers for the World Championships.

  • All sails must be measured by an official Fireball Class measurer or a World Sailing approved In-House Official Measurer prior to the regatta measurement.

  • All sails must have a readable Fireball Class measurer signature and a measurement serial number.

  • The mainsail and the spinnaker must have the correct sail number for the boat. The mainsail must have the correct country identification code.  Loan boats are exempt from having the correct sail number. But the mainsail sail number must be the same as the spinnaker sail number and be different to any other boat in the regatta.

Spars

  • All black bands on spars will be checked, please ensure yours are in the correct place and are easily seen from a distance

  • Spinnaker pole length will be checked.

 

Rudder

Please present your rudder box and rudder together as we will be checking the weight of the full assembly and the maximum thickness.
